EMILIE (Interreg MED)

Title: Enhancing Mediterranean initiatives leading SMEs to innovation in building energy efficiency technologies

Programme: Transnational Cooperation Programme Mediterranean 2007-2013
Duration: 01/2013 – 06/2015
Website: www.emilieproject.eu

The aim of EMILIE was to support the growth potential and capacity for innovation of SMEs in the field of energy efficiency in buildings in the tertiary sector at the transnational level, in order to actively contribute to growth, competitiveness, and employment in the Mediterranean area.
On the one hand, EMILIE supported innovation through the identification, testing, and dissemination of new products and technologies, and on the other the development of a plurality of activities to support SMEs. Six pilot actions developed during the project intended to contribute to creating preconditions for making access to innovative technologies easier on a transnational level. The pilot plants are now open for visits of all potentially interested clusters, SMEs and public administrations of the MED area.

Pilot project implemented by REA Kvarner:

Installation of a solar cooling system using vacuum solar collectors and NH3-H2O absorption chiller at the University of Rijeka - Faculty of Engineering, Laboratory for refrigeration and air-conditioning, with the purpose of cooling the laboratory facilities (model space for air flow research and measurements ), heating of consumption water and water in circuits within the laboratory premises and with the possibility of cooling / heating of offices in the periods when the laboratory is not in operation.
